I want to install wine through source code. I am using ubuntu 8.04 hardy. I first hardy.sh (Build dependencies list) and installed all dependencies in the list. But at last it indicated an error

subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
the same error is coming even i tried to install any application (like c++ compiler or any package) from synaptic package manager. I have configured wine code using ./configure .It reported several problems.Even i tried to install the packages that are listed in config.log the installer is showing same error.
Can any one tell me how to solve it?
